Lady Gaga’s Parents to Open Joanne Trattoria

Lady Gaga’s parents will open Joanne Trattoria next Wednesday.
By Matt Flegenheimer / The New York Times

Next Wednesday, in a modest space off Columbus Avenue, Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta plan to open Joanne Trattoria, an Italian restaurant with a well-stocked front bar, a cozy back patio and seating for about 70 people. The venture has been both bolstered and complicated by a simple fact: the Germanottas’ daughter Stefani, better known as Lady Gaga, is perhaps the most famous woman in the world.

"Lady Gaga's Social Site Is Pictures, Pictures, Pictures"

By Mark Hachman / PCMag.com / TechCrunch

Lady Gaga's social platform appears to combine elements of Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social elements, according to a report.

TechCrunch received an early look at LittleMonsters.com, the invitation-only fan site that Gaga and several other prominent Silicon Valley backers have financed.

As the screenshot indicates, much of the sum total of LittleMonsters.com appears to be photos of the singer or her concerts, which users can "heart" (or "like") and comment upon. Hearting a photo gives it prominence on the page. Users can also take a photo and edit or "remix" it, then publish it on the page to share with the community.

Users can share messages and stay abreast of events, presumably Gaga concerts and local meetups. And, of course, there's the profile page, with the ability to add your own "haus" and fans, with your own tags, as well.

Lady Gaga to Launch Born This Way Foundation

Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, announced Thursday that they will officially launch the Born This Way Foundation (BTWF) on February 29 at Harvard University's Sanders Theatre.

Lady Gaga will be joined by some very special guests as she personally unveils the BTWF before a crowd of policymakers, non-profit organizations, foundation leaders and youths who are working to create a kinder and braver world.

Gaga's mom said, "My daughter's foundation was born out of her passion to create a better world, where people are kinder and nicer to one another and are accepted for who they are, regardless of how different they may be. She has experienced many of the struggles that our youth encounter today, and identifies with the lasting effects they can have without proper support. Together, we look forward to creating a new movement that will engage and empower youth and accept them as valuable members of our society."

The one-day event will be co-hosted by the BTWF, the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and The California Endowment. Visit the Born This Way Foundation.

V Magazine Lady Gaga Memorandum no. 5

THIS MONTH, LADY GAGA LETS THE DESIGNERS OF HER MOST RECENT COLLABORATIONS DO THE TALKING

Giorgio Armani: “It is always stimulating to work with Lady Gaga because it allows my imagination to roam freely in order to create genuinely theatrical stage costumes, as was the case on this occasion. Lady Gaga is an artist with a huge personality and amazing stage presence. I was attracted by her genuine interest in fashion and design, which she projects with a conviction that knows no limits—and which she definitely considers a vital ingredient of her career.”

Manish Arora (Artistic Director of Paco Rabanne): “Daring, far beyond fashion and beauty, Gaga’s style is unpredictable, iconoclastic yet iconic and out of time. She is now and tomorrow, between fantasy and reality... She is a statement of re-creation, a piece of art.”

Karl Lagerfeld: “Gaga gives the world her music and her talent, but the thing I like most is that she fights against boredom and banality. She also puts forth an ever changing, inspiring, and strong image—an image beyond fashion. She is an extreme concentrate of ‘zeitgeist,’ freeing us from the heavy boredom of publicly displayed political correctness by being herself more than politically correct. Something in today’s world would be missed if there would be no Lady Gaga because Gaga is a Lady.”
