Fashion Icon Lady Gaga Launches Dazzling Jewelry Collection

Rodrigo Otazu, a native Argentinian who is famed among luxury jewelry designers, is collaborating with pop star Lady Gaga to create a visionary line of jewelry. Ever since she stepped on the scene Lady Gaga has been revered for her iconic fashion sense and outrageous style. Together with Otazu and creative director Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga will help to create a film for the Paris Fashion Week runway.
Gaga will be outfitted in top fashion design and luxury accessories, custom made by Otazu, during the film which is rumored to feature a sub-Saharan post-apocalyptic type terrain. However, this is not the first time the three have collaborated. In 2010, Formicetti, Gaga, and Otazu constructed Gaga’s controversial meat dress. Otazu designed the bedazzled beef clutch and other jewelry for the outfit.
The Lady Gaga collection features six Swarovski crystal necklaces which possess a tribal like quality. The line can be worn either together or separately. In addition to Gaga, Otazu has worked with celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Kelis, Madonna, and Toni Braxton.

Lady Gaga Cancels Indonesian Show After Threats

Lady Gaga canceled her sold-out show in Indonesia after Islamist hard-liners threatened violence, claiming her sexy clothes and provocative dance moves would corrupt the youth. The controversy was a blow to the predominantly Muslim country's reputation for combining free speech and democracy with a mostly moderate brand of the faith.
Fans were devastated, despite the promoter's offer of full refunds. Some accused police -- who refused to issue a permit over concerns about security -- of buckling to the will of a small group of thugs.
The planned "Born This Way Ball" concert has been on-again-off-again from the start. But on Sunday, it was final, said Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for Big Daddy, the promoter of the June 3 show.
"It's unfortunate," he said. "But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."

In the episode, Lady Gaga (playing herself) stops her Gaga Express train in the depressed town of Springfield and tries to boost the spirits of Lisa, who has become a complete social outcast. Using the power of positive thinking and song, can Gaga teach Lisa – and everyone in Springfield — that individuality beats conformity? We must believe so!

Just ten weeks after the devastating earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster that hit Japan in March 2011, Lady Gaga arrived in Tokyo. In an MTV Video Music Aid Japan-sponsored press event with U.S. Ambassador to Japan John V. Roos on June 23, 2011, she sipped from a ceramic teacup with the phrase “We pray for Japan” written in Japanese across the front. She spoke with the Ambassador and the media about her love for Japan and her desire to support and encourage the Japanese people. During the event she announced her intention to auction the teacup to help Japan.
Now, Lady Gaga is returning to Japan to keep her word. She will remind the world that Japan - particularly the younger generation - still needs our help. In addition to performing a concert, Lady Gaga will turn the words expressed on the teacup into action by auctioning off the cup on Yahoo! Japan Auctions starting from April 30, 2012 at 12:00pm to May 6, 2012 at 11:00pm. The online site for the auction is http://topic.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/charity/2011sanrikuoki_ms/post_166/index.html.
The winning bidder will not only receive the teacup, but will contribute to a greater cause. After the completion of the auction, one hundred percent of the funds generated will go to the TOMODACHI Arts Fellowship Program, which will be executed in partnership with an implementing organization.
The TOMODACHI Arts Fellowship Program will enable Japanese university students and young people the opportunity to pursue their artistic dreams by joining one year programs at specialized institutes in the United States in areas such as music, art, film, dance, song, theater, fashion, design, and digital media among others. It is part of TOMODACHI, a public-private partnership that supports Japan’s recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, and invests in the next generation of Japanese and Americans in ways that strengthen cultural and economic ties, and deepen the friendship between the United States and Japan over the long-term. A joint U.S.-Japan initiative, TOMODACHI is led by the United States Government and the U.S.-Japan Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and is supported by the Japanese Government as well as corporations, organizations, and individuals from the United States and Japan.
