Lady Gaga's Bathroom Tryst with Duchamp

Perhaps the 20th century’s most notorious artist, Marcel Duchamp is often grouped with the Dada movement, though the artist was never a card-carrying member of any circle other than his own. Now, however, he's finally been swept up by an irresistible force: the Gaga movement. For a show at London's SHOWstudio.com gallery, Lady Gaga — already more famous than the readymade creator will ever be — has signed the side of a urinal with the inscription, "I’m not fucking Duchamp but I love pissing with you." The work, entitled "Armitage Shanks," is on view as part of a show called "Inside/Out" — and the price is available only on request.

Other artists in the show Gaga collaborator Terence Koh, whose mixed media sculpture "The Whole Family" is priced at £34,000 ($52,000), and Marilyn Minter, whose “Green Pink Caviar” DVD is on offer for a comparatively modest £35 ($54). Deeper-pocketed Minter fans can pick up a limited-edition print of the artist’s 2008 “Gimme” photograph for £8,000 ($12,300). The work shows a detail view of an open mouth, lips adorned with pink lipstick.

Those looking for something to add to their Gaga reliquary may also be interested in a piece called "Pleated Puke," a pleated white dress made by Marko Mitanovski that the pop princess wore in the 2009 fashion film "Puke on Gaga."
