In what has to be the most unlikely pairing in fashion history, the over-the-top and often outlandish Lady Gaga and Giorgio Armani, the designer known for his classic, elegant understated clothes, have officially hooked up.
Even though they haven't yet formally met, the two icons have signed a multimillion dollar partnership, details of which remains murky, other than for plans for him to design outfits for her next tour.
Armani has already designed spectacular outfits for Gaga to wear to "American Idol," to the Grammys, in her music video for "Alejandro" and to the MTV Video Music Awards. But no, he didn't do her raw meat dress.
According to the Wall Street Journal. Roberta Armani, Giorgio's niece, explains the Gaga appeal: "A huge company like Giorgio Armani has the duty to always be alert to trends and what appeals to young people. It helped to see how the world is through Lady Gaga, the way she uses Facebook and Twitter."
Ahah. So it's her marketing skills and powerful social media reach Armani admires and envies. Well, don't we all? Sounds like Armani is trying to get hip (and relevant) quick.
Will Gaga's Little Monsters buy Armani if she wears his creations? And is there a Gaga/Armani fragrance in the works? Her fans -- including us -- would definitely buy that.
