Lady Gaga's mother, others at Garden State Equality Legends 2011 gala in Jersey City

By: NJ.com The Jersey Journal
Hundreds turned out at the Hyatt in Jersey City for Garden State Equality's Legends 2011 gala.

Among those on the program were:

*Lady Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who presented the Lt. Laurel Hester Prize for Citizen Courage to seven bullied students from across New Jersey who helped lead the way for New Jersey's new anti-bullying law, now the strongest such law in the country.

* The Rev. Bruce Davidson, who received the Loretta Weinberg Prize for Lifetime Achievement;

*Barbra Casbar Siperstein, who received Garden State Equality's first-ever John Adler Icon of Equality prize, named after Congressman and former state Sen. John Adler, who died in April.

*Anwar Robinson, a finalist on television's "American Idol.''
Legends 2011 had two themes, organizers said: A celebration of the state's new anti-bullying law and anticipation of the next step to win marriage equality in New Jersey.

Rolling Stone: Introducing the Queen of Pop - Lady Gaga

By Chris Molanphy Rolling Stone
Time for the moment of truth. Let's bake together all of these data points into one master list.

Surprised? Not likely. Lady Gaga as Queen of Pop makes a lot of intuitive sense.

No matter how we cut the numbers, Gaga was bound to crush the competition. Even if we'd stuck to data from 2010 and 2011, her massive album and singles sales swamp her competitors' – although that period might have given a boost to later career-starters like Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj. It might also have given an even bigger lift to Rihanna and especially Katy Perry, who were both on fire in 2010.

Conversely, if we'd widened our scope to five years instead of three, Taylor Swift could well have threatened for the top slot. And Beyoncé – with her string of 2007 and 2008 hits – would have made a much stronger run for Gaga's money.

Don't judge Beyoncé too harshly for her modest fifth-place ranking. Her I Am…Sasha Fierce album was already aging when 2009 started, and she's been between album cycles ever since. (We're confident that when we revisit this survey in a few months, her just-released 4 will propel her higher on the chart.) Named by Billboard as "Artist of the Decade" in 2010, Beyoncé has had so many hits since the turn of the millennium, she'd be anyone's first choice for Queen of Pop. Besides, an artist who kicked off the Obama Pop Era by singing to the Obamas at the 2009 inaugural ball has reached a whole other echelon of pop success.

Still: Our goal here was to crown the current tiara-wearer. And the hard-working, culture-dominating Gaga more than earned the title. Maybe a year from now, after 4 has spun off a year of radio, digital and video hits, Lady G and Honey B will be more evenly matched, tugging on either end of the Queen of Pop scepter like the demigods they are.

Perez Hilton: Oprah Or Gaga? Emmy Showdown!

(July 14 Official Primetime Emmy® Awards Nominations Announcement CeremonyLive webcast begins here on Emmys.com at 5:35 a.m. PT)

"Oh no! We have no idea who to root for here, because we love both Oprah AND GaGa!

This year marks the year that GaGa is going for an award outside of the music realm — in the variety special category at the Emmys for her Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden!

She's going up against slew of other artists as well, as the category is kind of a catch-all for all kinds of performers including musicians (like Beyonce) and comedians, and Oprah!

This is quite the problem here, guys!

Who do U think should win it??"

Nicola Formichetti Latest Mugler Video Too Racy For YouTube

by Justin Fenner STYLITE
If Nicola Formichetti’s clothes weren’t attention-getting enough, his next attention-getting stunt is guaranteed to, um, get your attention. To drum up anticipation for his Mugler men’s show in Paris on Wednesday, the designer and stylist has been working on a film with director Branislav Jancic that he’ll release in pieces over the next few days. But to watch the whole thing, you’ll have to log onto XTube.

That’s because the director’s cut of the film, called Brothers of Arcadia is too racy for YouTube. Or Vimeo. Or any other online video platform that has rules about what locations on the human body should or should not be seen. Of course, the teaser images Formichetti has posted to his Tumblr and Facebook pages show plenty of skin — they also seem vaguely inspired by Greek mythology (if you’ll remember 8th grade world history, Arcadia is a sort of pastoral Greek utopia) and feature some buff guys wearing dog collars and leashes. Standard stuff.
According a press release from Mugler, Formichetti will release a teaser video today, followed by Part 1 on Tuesday and Part 2 on Wednesday, the day of the show. On Thursday, the director’s cut will go up on XTube. The singer Nomi Ruiz of Jessica 6 will star in the video, and her band will provide an exclusive remix for the show in Paris on Wednesday.

Gaga's meat dress headed for Hall of Fame

Post by:
..."The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is putting the meaty piece on display as part of its Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power exhibit. The museum says the exhibit 'highlights the flashpoints, the firsts, the best, the celebrated–and sometimes lesser known women–who moved rock and roll music and American culture forward.'

The press will receive a dress preview Thursday morning, but the release sent out by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame begged one big question. How in the world did they preserve the dress?"...

by Carrie Borzillo Xfinity TV

Nigel Lythgoe announced Wednesday morning at the “So You Think You Can Dance” live dance billboard reveal in Hollywood that Lady Gaga is slated to appear on Season 8 as a guest judge.

“Yes, I asked her when she performed on the ‘American Idol’ finale if she would come on and she said yes,” Lythgoe, executive producer and head judge told xfinitytv. “She is on tour so they said it would probably be later in the season. She is an amazing dancer and performer.”

Lady Gaga: Born This (Digital) Way

By Lisa Arthur Forbes
When Lady Gaga and her team couldn’t find an integrated social media platform that met their specific needs, they did exactly what you would expect these avant-garde trendsetters to do: they decided to “poke the box” and build one themselves.

Now, Lady Gaga’s business manager, Troy Carter, and entrepreneur Matthew Michelsen have joined forces to create Backplane, a hi-tech start-up tasked with designing a digital platform to unite online communities around specific interests.

TechCrunch says Backplane will provide today’s biggest entertainment and sports brands –such as Lady Gaga, other musicians and the NFL –a way to blend (and focus) their various social media presences into one online platform.

Think about that for a moment. Can you imagine the power behind an integrated feed from Facebook, Twitter and other sites?
This is an idea whose time has come, and even though Backplane has yet to be “officially” unveiled, The New York Times is reporting that the start-up already has raised more than $1 million in funding. The group of influential investors includes none other than Lady Gaga herself, who holds a 20 percent stake in the company, and Tomorrow Ventures, the investment firm of Google’s chairman, Eric E. Schmidt.

Lady Gaga 'learning sign language'

by STUFF.co.nz
Lady Gaga is learning sign language in a bid to communicate with her deaf fans.

The 25-year-old songstress, who is currently enjoying international success with her second studio album Born This Way, is reportedly gearing up to learn the language with the help of a private tutor.

The eccentric star was inspired to learn American Sign Language after seeing some hearing-impaired fans signing along to her hits on video sharing website YouTube. A source has revealed the singer now wants to give back to her loyal followers.

"Gaga's already campaigned for gay rights in the States and has spoken out about political issues like immigration. Now she wants to make sure her deaf fans feel included too," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "Once she's mastered sign language she'll be able to respond to the videos that are online, and include signing in future live tours."

This is not the first time Gaga had addressed her hearing-impaired fans. The American star has previously played shows with a sign language expert to interpret her lyrics for her deaf fans. The bold singer also dedicated her hit Speechless to her fans who couldn't hear at a show in Washington last year.

"I wish I spoke your language. That's really f**king beautiful. Everybody speaks the language of love and it's so beautiful that music brings everyone together," she told them.

Smile! Lady Gaga’s Polaroid Collection Debuts

–Alex Apatoff People
From trendsetter to tech nerd! Polaroid creative director Lady Gaga‘s innovations for the brand are finally hitting stores after their splashy unveiling in January. Gaga’s first product under the Grey Label line, the GL10 instant printer, was launched at an event at Bloomingdale’s N.Y.C. flagship store; the $170 device will be sold exclusively at the department store until mid-June, when it will also be available on HSN and at Costco. Fans can stop by the Lexington Avenue Bloomingdale’s to experiment with the printer, which connects to Bluetooth-enabled phones to produce snapshots straight from your cell — with or without the classic Polaroid border — in less than a minute. Android users can also download a free app to do fun photo edits in seconds! Said Gaga of her inspiration for the device: “Everyday, digital photos capture, memorialize and shape our lives — but they are not given the chance to inspire us because they die on cell phones or digital cameras.”
