A ton of celebs are using the power of social networking to draw attention to a very worthy cause.
Folks like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, U2, Eminem, Rihanna, the Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Britney Spears and Beyoncé are among the over 150 famous faces who are taking part in the "I'm Gonna Be Your Friend" campaign that launched today. The goal is to raise both awareness and money on behalf of Save the Children's efforts to help the more than 10 million people in East Africa often deprived of food, water and medicine due to "the worst drought in decades."
All the stars involved have promised to promote a short film about the crisis, which was created by King of Scotland director Kevin McDonald and is set to the Bob Marley & The Wailers tune "High Tide or Low Tide," on their respective Facebook and Twitter accounts with the hope that they can encourage fans to lend a hand.
Both the video above and the song that accompanies it can be downloaded through iTunes, from www.imgonnabeyourfriend.org or www.facebook.com/bobmarley, with all proceeds going to Save the Children.
