Lady Gaga, others to sign off Twitter on World AIDS Day

Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga take charity work seriously, and they're going offline to prove it.

Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher and other celebrities have joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Keys' charity, Keep a Child Alive. The entertainers plan to sign off of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day. The participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1 million.

"It's really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on," Keys said in a phone interview from New York last week.

For the campaign -- which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys' husband, Swizz Beatz -- celebrities have filmed "last tweet and testament" videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.

"It's so important to shock you to the point of waking up," Keys said. "It's not that people don't care or it's not that people don't want to do something, it's that they never thought of it quite like that."

The campaign, she said, puts the disease in perspective.

"This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention," said Keys, who has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter.

The foundation, which began in 2003, will accept donations through text messages and bar-code technology, which is featured in the charity's Buy Life campaign. Raised efforts support families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

"We're trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?" said Leigh Blake, the president and co-founder of Keep a Child Alive.

"It's about love and respect and human dignity," she added.

Keys said recruiting celebrities was difficult because of scheduling, but "once I got people on the phone and I was able to paint the concept for them, everybody was in."

Not one person said no, Keys recalled.

"I have a feeling that Gaga is going to raise it all by herself," Blake said. Lady Gaga has more than 7.2 million followers on Twitter, and nearly 24 million fans on Facebook.

"She's got a very, very mobilized fan base and that's beautiful to watch I think (and) she's able to draw their attention to these issues that are very important, you know, and that people follow it and act."

Keys is hoping more people -- both famous folks and non-celebs -- get involved once the new initiative launches: "It just doesn't have to be just because you're a celebrity or something like that. It can be anybody."

Keys, 29, married rapper-producer Swizz Beatz in July. The two had their first son, Egypt, last month. The Grammy winner said that though her life's getting busier, being a mother and wife makes her want to help others even more.

"As a human being, you deserve to have a chance at life," she said.

Lady Gaga Got Anderson Cooper Drunk On The Job

The day before Thanksgiving is traditionally a time to return to your hometown, meet up with your old friends at a local bar, and talk about that time in high school you could have totally made out with this one girl—but you didn’t. So in honor of the day, we bring you a tale of the weirdest pair of drinking buddies in history: Lady Gaga recently got Anderson Cooper drunk on the job at a British pub.

The CNN newscaster was interviewing the pop legend for a segment which will air on 60 Minutes later this week. ”We actually ended up that day in a pub in London drinking Jameson, which I don’t really drink,” Anderson told The Insider. “So, she got me to drink like two of them, and by the end I was ready to have the interview be over because I really sort of couldn’t ask anymore questions.” Really Anderson? Just two? We bet even Andy Rooney can beat that! But there is nothing we wouldn’t give to go out drinking with Anderson Cooper. What kind of stories would come out? The terrors of being embedded in Iraq? The horrors of a post-Katrina New Orleans? The nightmare of having two last names and no first name?

Lady Gaga '60 Minutes' Interview Details Revealed

For those wondering when that "60 Minutes" interview with Lady Gaga and Anderson Cooper will air, the news anchor announced that it will be broadcast in February 2011, around the time of the Grammy Awards. He also revealed why he wanted to interview the "Bad Romance" singer so badly.
"I was really interested to meet Lady Gaga ... she's obviously a fascinating person," the newsman said in a sit-down with "The Insider." "What's great about '60 Minutes' is you spend a lot of time with the person you're profiling."

Cooper recounted just how much time he got to spend with the singer, who is going to release her new album in early 2011. "So to be able to spend a couple weekends with her in various places over the course of several months, it's really cool," he added. "And it's really interesting and I'm learning stuff about her I never saw before."

Photos and some grainy YouTube footage of the two filming the interview in October found its way online soon after they were spotted in London on the South Bank of the Thames River chatting for the episode. Gaga was wearing a lacy bustier, platform ankle-high boots, fishnet stockings and sunglasses, with her long hair loose and down.

Gaga recently tweeted that her album Born This Way is nearly complete, and Akon, her label boss, shared that he thinks Gaga is really stepping up her game with this album.

"If I was going to compare it to her previous work, I would definitely say it's a notch up," Akon said. "It's like she's slowly taking you on to this journey down this road. If she were to just drastically do it, she probably would have lost everybody from the first album, but once the sound was created and established, now we can use that as a tool to grab all the monsters and walk them down this graveyard. It's crazy. It's amazing."

Lady Gaga drops eyelash in coffee

Lady Gaga has started her day badly after dropping her fake eyelash in her morning coffee.

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, is paying the price of beauty.

The 24-year-old tweeted: "It is a promising morning when your eyelash falls in your Folgers."

The Bad Romance singer wasn't present at last night's American Music Awards in Los Angeles but she did scoop the best pop female prize.

Teen pop star Justin Bieber, 16, cleaned up at this year's AMAs, beating Gaga to the Artist of the Year award.

Lady GaGa invests in New York restaurant

Lady GaGa has reportedly invested in a New York restaurant.

According to W magazine, the 'Bad Romance' star has spent her recent earnings on becoming a part owner of Vince & Eddie's in Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Her parents have also become partners in the business, which opened in 1989. However, GaGa has apparently decided to be a silent partner in the Italian-American establishment, keeping her involvement in decision-making to a minimum.

Her mum told the magazine: "When she's in town she likes to come here with her friends because it's very homey and private. She'll come here on her time off."

Star Spotting: Lady Gaga Does Yoga

(Via BuzzFeed)

Sometimes I hear about Lady Gaga doing something "normal" like practicing yoga and I think, "Finally! Lady Gaga in a T-shirt and gym shorts." But then I see the pictures and scold myself for thinking Gaga would ever be caught dead in a commoner's getup. Silly me!

Lady Gaga visited a Bikram yoga studio in Zurich this week as she works her way across Europ,e and thankfully for us, her visit was documented. Instead of the usual yoga pants/form-fitting shirt/bare feet combo typical of a Bikram class, Gaga opted for black patent leather knee-high stiletto corseted boots and a black floor-length tailcoat tuxedo jacket. Oh, and sunglasses, because duh. (And your friends think you're over the top for wearing mascara to the gym.)

Yes, Lady Gaga's outfit choices are wild, and, no, we can't stop thinking about how hot she must have been wearing a TUXEDO JACKET while DOING YOGA, but we gotta hand it to her -- she nailed the pose! Look at that form! This shouldn't surprise anyone, though. Gaga has repeatedly handled those Alexander McQueen shoes/death traps just like they were a pair of Nikes.

First it was a Yankees game in a leather bra; now it's yoga in a tuxedo jacket. Next up? I'm guessing a trip to the post office in an LED wedding dress.

Lady Gaga to drop $12.9M on a 60-room Scottish mansion?

Go GaGa or go home! The avant garde singer is mulling a move to Scotland -- into a lavish 60-room $12.9 million estate, reports Curbed.com.

The 24-year-old singer has allegedly signed contracts for the esteemed Yester House just outside of Edinburgh, according to Real Estalker, but no official records have surfaced yet.

Lady Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, should have no problem dishing out the $12.9 million asking price for the 285 acres that come with the Yester House and all of its contents. The international starlet has reportedly earned $62 million in 2009 alone.

The 18th century megamansion includes at least 16 bedrooms, more than 35 fireplaces, two drawing rooms, a formal dining room, a second-floor music hall and a basement billiard room, reports Real Estalker.

The ornate estate also comes with vintage flourishes like a flower arranging room, a 1,300-square-foot ballroom, a gun hall and a dairy room, reports the outlet.

A live-in Lady Gaga would only enhance the Scottish estate's history of attracting musicians. Real Estalker reports the Yester House was most recently owned by composer Gian Carlo Menotti whose family inherited the property after he died in 2007.

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Will Be A Roaring Success Says RedOne

Troy Carter, the CEO of the Coalition Media Group and Gaga's manager, has mentioned that they have commenced to play music for the upcoming label in order to witness how the listeners react who has lauded Gaga's work so far as unbelievably excellent.

Carter has acknowledged that the impending album will transport Gaga into a creatively superior territory and make her business more money-spinning. Carter accepted that he had constructed his business around the ingenious infrastructure of Lady Gaga and their business is unique to her. Carter, however, did not divulge the date of discharge of the new album.

RedOne has performed with Gaga on chart-busters like 'Bad Romance' as well as on the forthcoming album and has declared that 'Born This Way' will enhance the Gaga's position in the musical industry and make her an even bigger superstar. This album will epitomize her. He has referred to the album as invaluable and is convinced that the listeners will love it. It is that good and will be the talk of town.

Meanwhile, LeBron James has confessed that he is not the appropriate choice for the honor of Time Magazine's Person Of The Year. Online balloting has commenced and LeBron is currently at the lowly 24th spot among 25 contenders, which demonstrates that the electorate concurs with his view. At No.1 in this catalog so far is the Turkish PM, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is the chief of the Islamic but doggedly secular nation. Lady Gaga is behind him with 78, with 701 votes so far.

Rockaway, NJ, drummer reflects on sessions with Lady Gaga

Yet another Lady Gaga Morris County connection has surfaced, this one in the form of Rockaway Township drummer John Hummel, who earned himself a credit on the UK version of her Grammy-winning debut "The Fame."

"I liked her a lot," Hummel said. "She was excited, enthusiastic, quirky and fun to work with. But in seeing her in interviews, she's not the same person. She's darker. It could be her persona to seem more mysterious."

Lady Gaga has numerous connections to Morris County. Her grandfather, Joseph Germanotta, who died in September, lived in Montville. And she recorded music at the Parsippany studio of Rob Fusari.

Hummel, who belongs to several bands and does session work, recorded at least eight songs alongside Lady Gaga in the Parsippany studio that also housed a romance between Fusari and Gaga and resulted in the 2008 release of the Grammy-winning album "The Fame."

Hummel, who plays on some of Lady Gaga's songs, said he had no idea about the romantic relationship between Fusari and Gaga.

"I'd show up to the house and she'd (Lady Gaga) be in her pajamas but I figured she had a long commute from New York so it'd make sense that she'd stay over," he said. "But that was probably the first indicator. Then Rob mentioned going to her parents' place for Christmas Eve and I didn't think anything of it. When the lawsuit came out, I didn't really know they had dated."

Fusari had sued Lady Gaga in March for more than $30 million, claiming he was owed cash and credits for helping her launch her career.

Lady Gaga countersued, claiming the contract between her and Fusari was invalid because he was not a licensed agent and had no right to her finances. The two dropped their respective lawsuits in September.

Hummel has kept in sporadic contact with Fusari, typically by e-mail.

For his work, Hummel earned a drumming credit on the version of "The Fame," released in the United Kingdom, a merit he found online and confirmed recently after receiving the album which he obtained via eBay from a musician in Ireland.

Lady Gaga attends Bikram yoga class in racy red lace knickers

London, Nov 13 : Lady Gaga was recently spotted in a pair of racy red lace knickers and crop top ahead of a Bikram yoga session in London.

Over recent months, she has been spotted attending numerous classes where yoga is carried out in sweltering temperatures of 105 degree F.

According to reports, Gaga, 24, is attending classes as she trots the globe as part of her world tour.

She was seen with her instructors at the Bikram Yoga Centre having arrived in a purple dress and black and white wedged heels.

The sport is hard work and normally consists of a 90-minute session in sauna-like temperatures where 26 different postures are carried out.

Gaga is said to have started Bikram Yoga back in New York in 2004 before she was famous.

She recently paid a visit to the Bikram Yoga Studio in the city''s Lower East Side and was so pleased with the session that she left instructor Tricia Donegan a note.

"Thank you so much for today. Lately I''ve been kicking ass in yoga, but I''m excited to embark on an even deeper journey with you." The Daily Mail quoted website DNAinfo as stating.

"You are such an inspiration. I will be back soon. W more hydration + sleep. Yoga heals me + so do you," she added.

Lady Gaga Cameo Rumored For 'Muppets' Movie

She's already worn them and been escorted by them, so it makes sense that Lady Gaga now may be joining the Muppets, in a reboot of their long-running film series due in theaters next year.

This is according to Production Weekly, an industry publication that chronicles film and television projects in pre-production and development, which on Thursday tweeted that they were "hearing that [actors] Eric Stonestreet, John Krasinski and Ed Helms may be in Lady Gaga's entourage for 'The Muppets.' "

By logical extension, that would mean that Gaga herself could be filming a cameo for the movie. And it lends credence to earlier reports that "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel — who is writing the script for the new "Muppets" movie — was basing the story line around the idea that "Miss Piggy ends up becoming like a Lady Gaga-esque character living in Europe."

A spokesperson for Lady Gaga did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter, but if LG does show up in the new "Muppets" film, we expect a few scenes with Kermit the Frog, her date to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Their appearance on the red carpet — not to mention the smooch they shared — had gossipmongers whispering that the two were an item. But Kermit would later deny those rumors, telling People that he "just gave Lady Gaga a ride to the VMAs, and when [she] left her credentials in the limo, I had to bring them to her."

Of course, that angered Kermit's longtime beau Miss Piggy, which had some rather disastrous results. "After Lady Gaga and I were seen on the red carpet together, well ... Miss Piggy got a little jealous," Kermit said. "But I definitely did get a ride home — in the trunk!"

Who Will Be Time's 2010 Person of the Year?

Vote Lady Gaga as Time's 2010 Person of the Year!

With only two albums under her belt, Lady Gaga has breathed much needed new life into pop music. The 24-year-old star has become an icon by combining dance numbers with performance art to create something that appeals to teenagers and critics alike. This year, she became the first artist to hit the 5 million mark in digital singles sales and the first celebrity to get more than 10 million fans on Facebook; her videos have been watched online more than 1 billion times. But Gaga's true influence lies in her ability to weave fashion, choreography, visual art and a wide variety of pop-based musical styles into one cohesive, compelling performance. She borrows heavily from predecessors such as David Bowie and Andy Warhol, dressing up otherwise common pop songs so that they seem unique. She has been called the next Madonna, but that title isn't really fair. Lady Gaga is not the next anybody. She's just herself, which is more than enough.

Lady Gaga takes out restraining order against fan

Lady Gaga has obtained a restraining order against a fan who allegedly sent her a death threat.

The 'Alejandro' singer took action against Russian Anastasia Obukhova, 26, who had threatened to shoot her in the head.

In a letter obtained by the star's management, the New York-based student wrote: "You come to my dreams. I want to die and I want to die together with you."

The letter continues with Obukhova referencing Mark Chapman, who murdered Beatles legend John Lennon in 1980 by shooting him four times outside his New York apartment.

She wrote: "I am not Mark Chapman. It is not only you who will die. I will shoot a bullet through my head too."

Under the terms of the restraining order, Obukhova is banned from going within 500 metres of Lady Gaga but the eccentric singer - real name Stefani Germanotta - has stepped up her security in the wake of the alleged death threat.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Security is always tight around her but even more so now she's on tour. Her team won't take any chances."

Lady Gaga Immortalized With Multiple Madame Tussauds Statues

Lady Gaga might be keeping a low profile as she preps the release of her forthcoming album, but next month, the pop star will be hitting the stage — in the form of wax, that is. On Thursday (November 4), it was announced that Madame Tussauds is set to unveil a series of distinctly styled Gaga wax figures in eight of its worldwide museum locations on December 9.

To ensure spot-on looks, the creators of the Gaga wax figures have been working with the pop star's favorite fashion designers. Madame Tussauds had a variety of options when choosing the eight distinct outfits for figures of the ever-evolving fashion icon, which will be launched in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

According to a press release, all eight of the wax figures are being created by a team in West London. As with all of the museum's additions, the singer's figures were sculpted with clay before being molded in wax. Once formed, a team of expert artists and stylists remade the singer's signature looks. After four months of work, each wax replica is estimated to cost more than $300,000, resulting in a grand total of $2.4 million for the entire Gaga set.

"As one of the biggest and most unique talents in the world, Lady Gaga is the perfect subject for the biggest figure launch in Madame Tussauds' history," the release says. "All of the styles being worked on are classic Gaga and we're sure her fans will be delighted with the unique looks when we unveil the figures next month."

The featured styles will be: Lady in Lace (The Brit Awards 2010), Telephone (Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, March 2010), Harlequin (Grand Intercontinental Hotel Seoul, South Korea), Kinky Boots (Hakkasan restaurant, London), Mini Mouse (BBC Radio 1 studios, London), Hair Hat (Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas), Wired "wing" dress with lightning "eye" (Wetten, dass..? gameshow, Germany) and Big Hair (Phoenix Hotel, Denmark).

Gaga's "little monsters" should be familiar with most of the styles, as they suggested the looks they'd like to see replicated.

Star Spotting: Lady Gaga Besieged By Paparazzi

Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" is about a near-obsessive relationship in which the woman is practically stalking the man, devoting attention to him as if she's a member of the paparazzi. It's almost quaint to think of Gaga on the other side of the camera at this point, as she has become one of the most sought after subjects for the hordes of camera people who stake out hotels and clubs all over the world.

Lady Gaga has been in London for most of this week. She's been spotted at the famed Abbey Road Studios and at yoga class. She's apparently stopping over in the U.K. on her way to Germany, where she'll be performing soon.

There's something kind of eerie about the above photo of Gaga, no? The way the security guards are fighting through the scrum, the severe look of Gaga, with her bangs and huge sunglasses. Certainly doesn't look fun, but the photo sure looks cool.

Gaga will return to England after her Germany shows, where she'll be performing a series of gigs at London's O2 Arena. More photos of Lady Gaga getting mobbed by the paparazzi below. Leave it to Gaga to make even that look artful.

1) Be in key (Fire with Fire is in C#)
2) Be in rhythm
3) Have the background music as LOW as possible — we want to hear YOU, not the band (you could always have the track playing on a discreet headphone)
4) Feel free to play any part you want — background/harmony vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums… we want it ALL.
5) And most importantly, give it all you got!!! The best, most moving performances will be chosen…

Upload your video to a video sharing site (YouTube etc) and send the link to tv@scissorsisters.com by December 1st, 2010. By submitting your video link to us, you’re granting us permission to use it in the video. In the email, also include your name, where you’re from, where you shot this (recording studio, parents’ basement, your bedroom, etc.) and then sit back, grab a drink, and wait to see if you’ll be singing with Jake, Ana, Del & Babydaddy!!!
